Located in the northeast of the Guilin City, some 10 kilometers away from the center of the Guilin City, the Yao Mountain (尧山) got its name from a Yao emperor temple built in the Qin dynasty(221 – 207BC) on the top of the mountain.

The main peak, the highest hill in Guilin City, has an altitude of some 910 meters. Yao Mountain lies from the south to the north, looking like a lying buffalo. Its cableway is 1416.18 meters long, providing the panoramic view of the Guilin City for you. The 1,000m sloping track has 18 curves, which enables tourists to travel through mysterious forest.

As the highest mountain in the Guilin City, it features the natural beauty. There are different views in different seasons. In spring, the mountain is full of colorful azaleas. In summer it offers pine and bamboo to view. The mountain is covered with the red maple leaves and chrysanthemum flowers in autumn, and snow flakes cover all over the mountain in winter.

When it is rainy in Guilin in summer, you can experience the exciting landscape on the top of Yao Mountain. Hills with clouds and fog around make for a wonderland. Scenery on the Yao Moutain differs with four seasons, creating four different feasts for your eyes.

The hill has several places of interest including the Yao Temple (尧庙), the White Deer Temple (白鹭庵) and the Tianci Field (天赐田). The Jingjiang Princes’ Mausoleum (靖江王陵) covering 15 kilometers from south to north and 7 kilometers from east to west is the most famous attraction in the area.
