Cooking Schools

Guilin Area offers several cooking schools to you to have fun cooking the local Chinese food. The cooking school popular with tourists is Yangshuo Cooking School which has been open since 2001.

Yangshuo Cooking School provides you with a great chance to learn how to cook the local tasty food. It offers two campuses for you to experience. One is located in Chaolong Village 5km away from Yangshuo County. The other is situated by the bank of Li River. Both of campuses are surrounded by mountains, fields, waters and houses.

Yangshuo Cooking School is full-equipped with cookers together with several courses: Daily Course, 4 Day Course and Week-long Advanced Course. It offers private course, small group course (less than 14 participants) and a week intensive course.

At the beginning of the course (often in the morning), the staff will go to your hotel to pick you up and show you around the local farmer market around Yangshuo. They tell you what to buy and how to choose fresh ingredients for cooking. Secondly, a cooking teacher shows you all the procedures of cooking. Third, enjoy DIY cooking. The teacher will give you some instructions when you cook.

Finally, enjoy the dishes you have cooked together with other participants in a comfortable and quiet environment. During one class of 4 hours including market tour, the teacher teaches you to cook about 5 dishes, including Yangshuo beer fish.
